Marcia Hauer

Executive Director


Marcia Hauer Started at Hillside Country Living in 1989. After a 3 year retirement she has returned to help lead Hillside Country Living. Marcia began her career in long-term care profession in 1979 as a nursing assistant and in 1987 Received her Nursing Home Administrator’s License and has continued her career in long-term care as an Administrator/Executive Director.

Jessica Douglass

Activities Director


Jessica previously worked for Hillside Country Living in the Village. She graduated from Defiance College with a business degree. She had always wanted to come back to Hillside and is very excited to be working in the Activities Department. She resides in Michigan with her husband Nate and daughter Olivia. It is her goal to support and encourage the residents to participate in a variety of activities.

Crystal Matthews

Crystal came to Hillside County Living in April 2012. She has worked in Long Term Care for the past 22 years. She is a Registered Nurse who received her Nursing Degree from Roger University in Claremore Oklahoma. She lives in Pioneer Ohio with her husband Eric, who is the Pastor of Calvary’s Cross Christian Life Center. She has two adult children. She chose to come to HCL due to the reputation the facility has for providing excellent care to seniors needing short term rehab prior to returning home and those that need long term 24/7 skilled nursing care. Her goal is to ensure that the residents who are here for rehab have a positive experience while here and have a safe transition to home after receiving maximum benefits from therapy and nursing care. Additionally, that those who are here for long term skilled nursing care will maintain as much independence as possible through continued restorative care and that they will have a positive living experience at this stage in their lives.

Stacy Schaffter

Director of Assisted & Independent Resident Services


Stacy had previously worked for twelve years in the Heritage at Hillside Country Living before transitioning to the Director of the Heights and Village in 2011. She has a Medical Assisting Degree from Fort Wayne International Business College. Stacy and her husband Andy live in rural Montpelier, her home town, with their three girls. Stacy feels that it is important to encourage a productive and useful life style with the highest level of independence possible. Her personal mission is to show love and respect to each and every tenant.

Barb Harrington

Business Office Manager


Barb returned to Hillside Country Living as the Business Manager in August of 2009. She had previously worked at Hillside as a Dietary Assistant for two years and as the Activity Assistant for seven years during the 80’s & 90’s. She earned her degree in accounting and moved on to work in the accounting field. She and her husband own a small farm nearby, have three grown children and five grandchildren. Barb felt like she was “coming home” when she was selected to serve as the Hillside Country Living’s Business Manager, a position she thoroughly enjoys. She loves the residents and will always make time for them and their family members whenever they have questions regarding their invoices, insurance paperwork, and will also assist in guiding them through the Medicaid process if that step becomes necessary.

Rich Derks

Director of Environmental and Maintenance Services


Rich came to Hillside in January 2015. He has previous experience with heating, cooling and maintenance supervision. It is his goal to make Hillside a safe, comfortable and enjoyable place for our Residents to live.
